Welcome Women Living Well Ultimate Blog Bash Partiers!

For some time now, I have enjoyed participating in Women Living Well Wednesday link-up parties, so I was excited when Courtney announced a couple of weeks ago that she would be hosting a Blog Bash.  Blog parties are always a lot of fun!

Let me introduce myself to those of you who may be new here.  I’m Anne, The Lucky Wife to The Chef, who does the vast majority of the cooking in our home (which I think qualifies me as one blessed wife, but I figured a lot of people might relate better to “lucky”…).  ;)   We decided towards the end of 2010 to start a food blog as a New Year’s endeavor to share recipes and our passion for food with family and friends.

Of course, our initial audience was family and “old friends.”  As we began exploring the blogosphere and interacting with other bloggers, our audience has grown to include new friends.  A quote I came across a few years ago that has stuck with me is, “Make new friends, but keep the old.  One is silver, the other is gold.”  It’s always fun making new friends… adding some silver to your life!  :)

Some of the Women Living Well community have been interested in, and hopefully enjoyed, some of the recipes or other posts we’ve shared at Wednesday parties.  If you’ve visited us before and are back again, we’d like to say thank you and welcome you to our little corner of the internet.

I thought I would share a favorite recipe that’s one of The Chef’s newer creations:

It’s bursting with flavor and really delicious, and it’s a part of our Feast of the Ages series, which I think you might enjoy checking out also.  The most popular recipe from that series has been the Lemon Lime Ice Cream Soda Shots with Banana Pudding Discs a close second.

So far, we’ve served a variety of different types of recipes, including quite a few low-allergenic recipes, as our family monitors the amount of certain foods in our diet due to food sensitivities.  We also have shared other types of food posts that have been popular, including:

Lunchbox Ideas
Beauty, Body Image and Anorexia
Debt-Free Living/Dave Ramsey
Mom-Friendly Recipes

Crockpot/Slow Cooker recipes are always a hit.  And if you love Christmas as much as we do, I think you’d enjoy our 100-Day Countdown to Christmas series going on right now.  Be sure to check out our great Christmas cookbook giveaway also that ends Sunday.

I hope you find some delicious recipes you think your family would enjoy trying while you are here!  A few that we rotate through our weekly menus regularly are Crockpot Turkey Meatloaf, Chuckwagon Beans and Squash and Goat Cheese Casserole.

I’m looking forward to learning more about you and your blog through this party.  While you are here… would you mind sharing what type of recipe you are most interested in finding when you visit food blogs?  We always enjoy feedback from our readers!

Have a blessed week…

The Crock Pot Craze {Recipe Collection}

Some of our most popular recipes since we started blogging in January have been crock pot recipes.  It’s really no surprise.  People love cooking in crock pots.  The biggest benefit we enjoy is the time it gives us for other things.

Can you believe the Crock Pot was really an accidental invention?  It’s hard to imagine our lives before the Crock Pot, let alone life without it ever being known!

Remember those delicious summer recipes we came across on Pinterest?  Well, I created a board to catalog the themed recipe link parties I come across in blogland that I don’t want to lose track of.  There’s just too much deliciousness to try that I wanted one place that would be easy to put it all for later reference when we’re ready to try a new recipe.  Check out my top picks from some of the crock pot themed parties:

For Breakfast:

Breakfast Casserole
(from the Mom’s Crazy Cooking Collection)
Banana Cinnamon Oatmeal
(from the Mom’s Crazy Cooking Collection)

Rice Pudding
(from the Seaside Simplicity Collection)

Your Main Dish:

Simple Chicken Stew
(from the Seaside Simplicity Collection)
Brown Sugar Bourbon Pork
(from the Mom’s Crazy Cooking Collection)

SW Pork Tenderloin Chili (Low-Fat)
(from the Seaside Simplicity Collection)

Mex-I-talian Chicken
(from the Seaside Simplicity Collection)

For dessert:

Chocolate Pudding Cake
(from the Gooseberry Patch Collection)

Or how about some Apple Butter (from the Mom’s Crazy Cooking Collection):

Check out my Crock Pot Pinterest board to see all of the recipes in each of the collections.  A delicious sounding venison recipe was in one of the collections, but a picture of it was not included.  After finding a couple of dessert recipes, I decided I needed to create a separate board just for the Crock Pot Desserts.  Check out this Peanut Butter Cheesecake from that board:

If that’s not enough ;) , don’t forget about our Star Recipes Collection.  There are several there, including Spinach Lasagna, Butternut Squash Soup, and our Italian Sausage, White Bean and Kale Soup.  Our other crock pot recipes can be found here.

You will never run out of recipes to try in your Crock Pot with a recipe sharing resource I came across on Facebook this week!  Three ladies started a Facebook Community Page, called Crock Pot Girls.  In less than a month, almost 1 million people have joined the community.  There are literally countless recipes that have already been shared there.  Some have been shared on the main wall and others can be found in the Discussions tab or Photos section.  The ladies are putting together a website, but I’m not sure if all of the recipes shared on the Facebook page will end up on the website.  I’ve shared a few of ours there and will share these as well.  Welcome to our guests from the Crock Pot Girls Community!

UPDATE: I can no longer find the Crock Pot Girls on Facebook.  Some were questioning the legitimacy of the page and the tremendous numbers of “likes” they were getting in such a short period of time, suggesting perhaps the popularity of the page was not as it appeared.  I’m guessing that may have been the case since the page no longer exists.

I’ll end with the rest of the recipes from the Gooseberry Patch Slow Cooker Recipe Roundup:

Enjoy.
